Vision Point #8:
Become women who soar like eagles because we’ve experienced Christ’s freedom in our lives.
Description of Vision:
Can you imagine what it would be like to fly? I remember parasailing in Hawaii and feeling the beauty and freedom of soaring. It was breathtaking! The giggles, smile and screams that came from my mouth displayed the joy of the experience.
I've asked many large groups of women the following question: "Do you feel like you are living the abundant Christian life? Do you feel like you are soaring?" In most cases, only a few hands go up. Why? Perhaps, as we go through life, we bump up to more parts of our life that need freedom. However, we may not even know we need freedom. We've learned to stuff things—the hurt, the pain ,the sadness of life, deep into our souls. And time ticks on. These things that are "stuffed" are what keeps us from freedom!
Deep down, we long to be set free from the bondage and chains from the past, but we don't know how to escape. We need to know how and we need to be a church that helps women know how to be set free!
One of my favorite books over the year is “In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day.” It helped me see that I could soar! Batterson states: “I’m convinced that the people God uses the most often are the people who have experienced the most adversity. Adversity can produce an increased capacity to serve God. He wants to recycle your adversity and turn it into a ministry. God is in the business of recycling our pain and using it for someone else’s gain.” He goes on to say: “What if the life you really want, and the future God wants for you, is hiding right now in your biggest problem, your worst failure….your greatest fear?"
Women, don’t get stuck with your “stuff!" How might God want to use the pain(s) you’ve gone through in life for His kingdom purposes?
