coffee talkVision Point #4:

Spiritually encourage and mentor women (each other) in life and ministry.

Description of Vision:

Have you ever had a mentor in your life?  Have you been a mentor to another woman?  There is something so special when women can come alongside other women to truly sharpen each other.  I’ve always wanted to have an answer for these two questions:

                • Who is pouring into my life?
                • Whose life am I pouring into?

I remember it was way back in high school that I had an older 4-H leader encourage and tell me that I could do a demonstration at the county fair on horses.  I couldn’t imagine getting up in front of people to do that!  But, because of her persistent encouragement, help and direction, I was able to not only do the demonstration, but get a blue ribbon!

Many of us are missing out on the treasure of sharing our lives with each other.  We can easily feel alone, isolated with no one to turn to for advice and counsel.  If you’re looking for help in mothering, singleness, work, organization, home management or spiritual growth, it is our belief that God calls the older women to come alongside us!  Check out this powerful verse:

  • Titus 2:3 :: “In the same way, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not addicted to too much wine.  They are to teach what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands and children, to be sensible, pure, good homemakers, and be submissive to their husbands, so that God’s message will not be slandered.”

Not only do older women have a call on their life to pour into the next generation, but the younger women can also encourage the older woman!  Isn’t it exciting that we can learn from each other?

We live in an unconnected world.  There are many women who live in Austin and have families elsewhere.  Many women have grown up with no one to disciple them in Christian principles.  They are raising children with little understanding of guiding spiritual principles.  How are we going to be a church of women who care to impart and receive from each other?

We often want to do life on our own.  It’s really safe that way.  But you know what? It’s boring.  Those of you who’ve been Christians for years have something to offer.  And those of you who long to have a mentor, there are women who can!  And you have something to offer the mentors too!  May God break down our walls and busyness so that we can truly care for and guide our next generation.
